I have mentioned to a few hubbers that I would write about being the wife of a musician. I thought this might be a good starting point since Kinks and the Krew just performed again in Hell, Michigan at Smitty's Dam Site Inn this July (of 2010).
Kinks and the Krew are always well received at Smitty's. This place is usually quite relaxed and yet the dance floor is most often filled when Kinks and the Krew play there. It seems most everyone is there to relax and have a good time. There are a lot of regulars who obviously frequent the bar and then there are the vacationers. If you ride motorcycle this is a great place to meet up with other bikers. If you feel like drinking a few in the open air there are picnic tables out front. *(Just don't take any glasses or bottles outside the bar.)
The Music
The guys play covers of many favorite songs from the Classic Rock era. Mostly top forties of Rock and Rock and Roll music. Songs that we don't want to ever die such as: Mustang Sally , Old Time Rock and Roll , Brown Eyed Girl , Brick House , Play That Funky Music , I'll Be Doggone , just to name a few. Below are some videos from a former performance at the Dam Site. I hope you enjoy them.
The Krew - Bruce
One of the members of Kinks and the Krew is my husband, Bruce Yager. He has appeared at Smitty's in a few different bands, such as: Kinks and the Krew, The Headliners, The Billy Mack Band and probably my favorite band, Another Round. Of these bands Kinks was also in three of them and Paul in two.
*Bruce plays bass guitar and sings lead and backup vocals.
Ain't Too Proud To Beg
The Krew - Paul
Paul Majeske has been in several different bands with Bruce. Two of them featured at The Dam Site often. Another Round was a big hit here as well as Kinks and the Krew.
*Paul plays electric guitar and sings lead and backup vocals.
You've Really Got A Hold On Me
Kinks
Terry Heiss (Kinks) Played in The Billy Mack Band, and The Headliners with Bruce as well as Kinks and the Krew. Kinks is well known at Smitty's.
*Kinks --plays the drums, sings lead and back up vocals.
But It's Alright
Personality
Each member brings a different and unique personality to the band. Often times they have guest singers and/or musicians and this adds extra flavor to the band. Jenny Russell is often a guest singer and she is awesome. When she gets done belting a couple songs out the crowd can't praise her enough.
You will find other good bands at Smitty's but if you get a chance to see Kinks and the Krew you are in for a real treat!

I am a master musicologist myself so there are many many stories of people all over this world who were touched by their love of music. Joy to the world!!!!!
